For several months, Pinehurst Country Club members and their guests have been learning and practicing pickleball on the hard courts at the main tennis club. Twice each week, those new to the game come out and learn the basics for an hour, then have a chance to play for another two hours with more experienced pickleball players. Throughout each week, several independent groups have formed in which players meet to practice. The two hard courts may be booked through the tennis club for practice by any member at any time. Equipment is available to borrow as well. Over 100 players have tried pickleball and have indicated their interest in continuing to practice and play.
Within the next several weeks, the location for pickleball will move from the main tennis club at Pinehurst to the hard courts adjacent to the #6 golf course, just off Juniper Creek Boulevard (off Rt 15-501). Please share with us - the Pinehurst Pickleball Committee - your thoughts on this change: how will the move affect your interest in and participation in pickleball? What advantages and disadvantages do you anticipate as a result of the change?
Thanks in advance for your thoughtful and civil posts!
